What is Strikethrough Text?

Strikethrough Text Generator adds the Unicode COMBINING LONG STROKE OVERLAY (U+0336) after each character. This combining character attaches visually to the preceding character and renders as a horizontal line through it — effectively strikethrough — in any Unicode-supporting text renderer. Unlike HTML <s> tags or Markdown ~~strikethrough~~, Unicode combining characters work in plain-text fields on all platforms that render Unicode, including Facebook, Twitter/X, Discord, Instagram, and SMS.

Is this different from Markdown ~~strikethrough~~?

Yes. Markdown strikethrough only works in editors that render Markdown (Discord with Markdown enabled, GitHub). Unicode strikethrough works in plain-text fields everywhere, including Facebook and Twitter.

Will strikethrough text copy-paste correctly?

On any modern platform that supports Unicode, yes. Each character is followed by U+0336 which renders as a strikethrough. Some platforms may filter combining characters — Discord's ~~syntax~~ may be preferred there.

Can I use this for other languages?

Yes. U+0336 attaches to any Unicode character, so strikethrough works on letters, digits, and characters from any script.
