What is Pomodoro Timer?

The Pomodoro technique asks you to work in focused rounds, traditionally 25 minutes, with a 5-minute break after each and a longer break after four rounds. This timer does that and lets you change every length. It remembers when a round ends rather than counting seconds, so the time left is right even if you switch tabs, close the laptop lid or reload the page.

How to Use Pomodoro Timer

1

Pick a preset or set your own focus and break lengths.

2

Press Start and work on one thing until the round ends.

3

Take the break. After every few rounds you get a longer one.

4

Pause if you are interrupted, or stop to end the run. A round of a minute or more counts toward today’s focus minutes.

5

Turn on the tone if you want to hear when a round ends.

Common Use Cases

  • Studying for an exam in short, regular rounds
  • Writing, coding or design work that needs uninterrupted time
  • Getting started on a task you have been avoiding
  • Time-boxing housework or admin
  • Working alongside someone else on the same rounds

Privacy

Everything runs in your browser. The timer state, your settings and today’s focus minutes are saved in this browser’s local storage and are never sent to a server. The site records only anonymous usage counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Pomodoro timer?

A timer for the Pomodoro technique: work for a set round (usually 25 minutes), take a short break (usually 5 minutes), and after a few rounds take a longer one (usually 15 minutes).

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs or close the lid?

Yes. It stores when the round ends instead of counting seconds, so the time left is correct when you come back. If a round ended while the page was asleep you are told so.

Can I change the lengths?

Yes: focus, short break and long break can each be 1 to 180 minutes, and you choose how many rounds come before a long break.

Is anything uploaded?

No. The timer, your settings and today’s focus minutes are kept in this browser only. Notifications are shown only if you have already allowed them for this site.

Is it connected to WorkBoard?

It shares the same timer: a round you start here also shows in WorkBoard in the same browser. WorkBoard adds the task you are working on and, for signed-in accounts, a focus history.
