What is Grayscale Image?

Grayscale Image converts color images into black-and-white images by recalculating each pixel using luminance weighting. The strength slider lets you blend between the original color and the fully grayscale result, which is useful for subtle desaturation as well as complete monochrome conversion.

How to Use Grayscale Image

1

Upload a JPG, PNG, WebP, or other browser-supported image.

2

Adjust grayscale strength from 0 to 100 percent.

3

Preview the result on the canvas.

4

Download the grayscale image as a PNG.

Common Use Cases

  • Creating black-and-white photos for print.
  • Desaturating product images for comparison states.
  • Preparing monochrome assets for design systems.
  • Reducing visual noise in screenshots or documentation.

Example Input and Output

A color product photo is converted to a monochrome PNG.

Input image

Output image
product-photo-grayscale.png

Privacy

Image pixels are processed locally in the browser. No upload is required.

The edited image is downloaded as a PNG file.
Is the image uploaded?
No. The conversion happens locally in your browser using Canvas.
Can I use partial grayscale?
Yes. Set the slider below 100 percent for a partially desaturated result.
